Hi all,
i buy Seagate barracuda 200 gb SATA. But when i try to install windows on this hard disk i see troubles. I booting from windows cd, next i press f6 and loading sillicon drivers from the floppy drive. I select the partition where to install windows(this partition is from the new sata disk, i try format fat and ntfs but the result is selfsame). Windows instalation format the partition and copy needed files, and come the first restart, the pc restarting and i see one from this 3 messages:
-“Error loading operating system.”
or
-“Missing operationg system”
or
-“Error loading OS”
And i can’t continue the instalation of windows. I don’t know why the fuckin windows can’t install.
Do you have any other hard drives hooked up at the time of installation? You may have to change the boot priority in the BIOS in order to prefer your SATA controller over the IDE controller.
The easiest thing to do if you have any IDE hard drives (hard drives that connect to the motherboard with the ribbon like cables) is to disconnect the IDE hard drives and just run your SATA drive, somewhere when you boot you should have the option of formatting / repartitioning your hard drive. Try and delete the partition and format the drive then try again with windows installation.
As AT has specified, you need to goto the bios and specifiy the SATA drive as your Primary Boot Device.

I format my hard drive many times, format all, with partition magic, and from windows installation. Now i have information on the harddisk and cant format all. I think this is not the problem.
We appreciate people have problems with spelling and grammer, we’re not all perfect lol! But when posting can you please read through your post and make sure it makes sense, as its very hard to try and help you with such vague details, and bad wording.

Please tell me where is this option, i cant find it.
First steps common BIOS
-In Integrated peripherals setup menu under onboard PCI device, enable Serial ATA controller.
-Save bios end reboot.
-Enter bios a second time.
-Enter advanced BIOS feature setup .
-Set :
First Boot device = CDROM
Second Boot device = Serial ATA
Third Boot device = Floppy
Boot other device = none
But i cannot choose this “Second Boot device = Serial ATA” in my bios.
My problem is solved. The problem was in the BIOS, in STandart CMOS Features, in the menu of SATA hard disk. There is option which is set to AUTO in default. This is the problem when i set to LARGE, yet i can boot windows from this partition.
10x for replays.
