cd dvd player in dell 8300 plays video but no audio after reformat and installation of xp and all the drivers.
theres no cable connected from the mb to the cd dvd plyer, i thought it was that till i read this:
Microsoft® Windows® Millennium, Windows 2000, and Windows XP operating systems ship with DAE (Digital Audio Extraction) enabled. The analog cable is not be necessary when using DAE.
Earlier versions of Microsoft operating systems or other non-Microsoft operating systems may need the analog Audio cable to play CD audio.
Do I have to enable DAE or something? Can’t figure it out.
hi, is it onboard sound (on the motherboard) if so, what chipset is it, or if its a sound card what card is it, because to me it sounds like it could be a faulty sound card or something with the drivers.
presumably your using win2k or winXP, because that particular onboard sound is NOT compatable with Win9x, beyond that i don’t know, sorry, perhaps someone else can help you
