I was surfing the net yesterday on my laptop and suddenly a message pops out from my computer saying that there is someone else using the same IP. So I went to network and sharing and made sure that the network and sharing were turned off. Then I made sure that the firewall is on. And I also made sure that the antivirus is working and up to date.
And I turned my laptop today and connected it to the internet, suddenly files from my computer started to get deleted. A lot of my ebooks and videos were deleted! What should I do? Do you have any Idea?
Is your internet connection shared using a Router or does more than one device connect to your internet? There could be another device like a mobile with a static IP that caused the conflict. Removing the static IP on the other device or else assigning a static IP to your conflict device should resolve this. If you have turned on Windows Firewall then I would advice to turn it OFF as it is of no good; rather use Zone Alarm Free Edition if you are comfortable with Firewall Settings.
As for the missing files then there could be a virus infection or some unknown software issue caused mistakenly for which the files went missing. You could use any recovery software like EASEUS Free Edition.
