Yesterday was met with great grief as when I was happily playing through a beloved 6 year old game (Giants:Citizen Kabuto) my computer spontaniously shut off on me. I mean totally shut off. I unplug anything, turn anything off, etc. I had a surge protector and there was nothing else in the house affected at that time, including the other computer right beside mine. I wasn’t doing any overclocking or stressing anything at the time, or recently. Up to that point everything was really normal for the most part.
At first I figured, ah the power supply! But when I changed out my 420wt Thermaltake for a cheapo 400 Rosewill it still wouldn’t boot, let alone show any sign of life. I checked all cables, switches, dust, etc. I really can’t think of what could have happened. I always have my BIOS set to shut down after a certain temp. threshold was brocken but I should have heard a beeping and have been able to reboot after.
Any advice would help. All I can think of is the mobo is shot or there’s some short circuit or something? Thanks all.
Any leaking, bulging or otherwise exploded capacitors on the motherboard?
Everything seem to be fine, though it was a good thought.
IF it was a voltage fluctuation then no need to worry about Mobo coz in this case only PSU get affected and wait a minute did you said you have another computer. Check your other stuff on it like RAM, HDDetc will tell you that how many parts affected…
Can u see light on the MOBO of dead computer when you turn on your coputer?
The other computer’s a junky old Mac, so unfortunately that plans out. It doesn’t seem to be a PSU issue as trying a new PSU didn’t change a think. Even if some ram was bad I should still be getting some signs of life I would think. Still good thoughs, any ideas are useful dudes.
Thanks mate, I’m looking it over, hope it helps:)
No problem, just let me know what was the problem~!?
