Hi all,
I have a couple of problems, but I don’t know where the second one belongs so I thought I’d put it with this one in the hopes someone here can answer the problem or refer me to someone who can.
Before I begin my system specs are:
P4 3.0ghz Northwood CPU
Intel Desktop Motherboard D848PMB with Hyper-Threading
2x 200gb Maxtor Hard Drives
ASUS V9400 Magic MX 4000 3d Graphics card (128mb)
ATAPI DVD-RW Drive 8X
ATAPI CD-RW Drive 52X
Floppy Disk Drive
Logitech USB Keyboard w/ Internet Keys and Media Keys
RAZER Viper USB Optical Mouse
Packard Bell WC100 USB Camera
NETGEAR FA311 Fast Ethernet Adaptor
Here’s my first problem:
I used to have a 2.4ghz Celeron in my machine before I changed my motherboard and CPU (Both ones listed are the ones I changed to), after I replaced it with my Northwood P4 I have had a strange reading in my Device Manager, under the Processors tag my processor is listed twice, the listings are identical and they refer to the right CPU but why do I have it listed twice? I do not have a dual CPU motherboard, does anyone know how this can be fixed?
Here’s my second, and probably worst problem:
At random intervals while I have been using the computer, sometimes even when I haven’t, my keyboard, mouse and monitor will lose power, without being able to be switched back on, but the computer is still running, resetting didn’t solve the problem, only a complete power off and power on again. The monitor doesn’t turn off totally, the power button goes from green to orange as it usually does when the computer first starts up, but nothing apart from a power off and power on will change it back to green. I have tried everything I know to fix this but it has only started happening in the past two days when I have done nothing to the system apart from preform a complete system scan for viruses. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks very much. ![]()
