Hi just a quick question to someone who knows…

When will HD-DVDs be on sale and will they as popular as DVDs are today.

also, is a TFT monitor HD-ready?

but im confused with HD videos, ive read some bits they say “720 lines” i mean wot does that mean!?? i take it a tft monitor isnt good because the pixels for a HD video require the pixels to be 20% smaller thus having more width or height pixels for better quality than a divx 1280x movie is my theory correct?

standard TV operates at a resolution of 720 x 576 (720 horizontal lines X 576 vertical lines) HDTV operates at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 or [COLOR=“Purple”]1280 x 720

no, it’s nothin to do with the pixel size, it is the number of pixels obviously the more pixels a device has (LCD of CRT) the higher the resolution can be on the device, pixels are smaller on HD devices but this is to allow more pixels, and so, accommodate higher resolutions[ot][COLOR=“Purple”]1280 = horizontal & 720 = vertical resolution[/ot]BTW: if you don’t understand, tell me & i’ll try to find a better explanation

so the HD screens have more DPI /pixels per inch (DPI[SIZE=“1”]2[/SIZE]) than a tft monitor would have at the same resolution… coz i take it tft’s have their own pixels built in but the HD has more vertical lines than the TFT, wait now im really confused :frowning: a tft has 1280w x 1024h so a HD screen will have more pixels in the w or h. dam im so thick!

BTW: an LCD or CRT cannot physically display the same resolutions as a HD mainly (i think) because HD are usually widescreen[ot]they simply don’t have the pixles[/ot]

me friend just bought a 32" hd telly for £400 /$780USD was a 720p (wotever that means, coz there’s more actual pixels than 720width)
