My processor from my old Dell I know is P4/2.66ghz/533fsb/478socket, I am looking into putting into a Asus P4S800D-X 478 ATX - Retail, I believe that the chip should be compatible however, I am not able to find out if it is a Prescott or not is there anyway to find out, I have looked up the modem number multiple times and I am having difficulties finding this out.
Adios and Thanks

You can use a small tool called [google]CPU-Z[/google] which gives detailed info on your CPU/mobo/RAM.
There within lies the problem the Dell motherboard is dead, it does not run at all. So I am not able to run a Diagnostic tool on the CPU itself to find out that information.
Thank you though

On the processor, there should be some writing.
Can you post it? Or take a picture and attach it.

Well, if it’s an Intel CPU at 2.66Ghz, 533Mhz FSB and socket 478, trust me, it’s definately not a Prescott core chip, probably a Northwood core chip.
If i remember correctly, Prescott cores only started at 3.0Ghz @ 800Mhz FSB!
Yeah that is what I have been trying to find out, thanks, I think that the board should be compatible then.

Basically I believe that it is compatible up to the Prescott, from all of the other specs it would appear so.

THis is what I am looking at right now.
Yep, your chip will work fine in that mobo!
Thanks
I figured that it would I am paranoid right now thought because I tend to kill boards and vid cards, So I am making sure I am getting a compatible mb.
Anyways Hope that you all have a goodnight and hopefully, next time I come back it will be on my BSD machine I have been stuck on this 2000 for 2 weeks and it is driving me crazy.
Adios
