I need to run my motherboard without a case

Hi,

I have a ASUS A7SBX-MX motherboard that i need to test and run. But at the moment i cannot find a ATX case. I have all the other components.

I have tried several time to boot it, by puting jumper into the slots where the panel plugs fit in. but i’ve faced few issues, when i put a jumper to a power button slot motherboard boots and HDD works but after 2-3 sec it automatically turns off. Then i put a jumper to the slot where teh reset cable plugs in so that i have two jumpers one at the power button slot and the to other at the reset slot. Then the mainboard boots but it doesnt boot the HDD.

How can i boot this mainboard without a ATX case?

cheers

Hi, your going about it all wrong, what you should do is cut all power going to the motherboard then just attach two wires to the power switch Pins on your motherboard control panel and then turn the psu back on and touch the two wires together(dont keep them together just touch them together) and it will boot the system. dont put a jumper over them otherwise it will just send the signal to the psu to turn on and then turn off again.

OR just use a screwdriver to short the two pins until the system turns on

Either way will work fine, if you do it Rhocstenbach’s way make sure you don’t accidently snap off the pins with the screwdriver. I always use the hot wire method lol just find it safer, takes for more time but rather be safe than accidently snap or bend the pins with a screwdriver.

it’s actually difficult to bend or snap the pins because you only need to touch both pins with a screwdriver
