Is This Cpu Socket Damaged?

I’ve posted this elsewhere, but I’m hoping for a better result here:

I installed an Asus Prime B250M-A motherboard into an old case with a 450W power supply and added an Intel Pentium G4560. For some reason I can’t get power to the hard disks or external peripherals. However, the optical drive is powered.

I’ve tried a brand new PSU, so that’s not the cause, then I pulled the CPU. As far as I can tell, there’s no damage to the pins, but it’s hard to tell.

Here’s a picture of the socket:

For what it’s worth, the underside of the CPU:

Do these look okay? Any help would be appreciated.

Which exact power supply? Did you plug in both the main 24-pin ATX and 4- or 8-pin power connector on the motherboard?

It turned out to be a memory stick that I’d somehow smudged during handling. Cleaning the gold contacts fixed it.
