Can anyone advise on an issue I am having with someone else’s PC.
For reasons best known to themselves they decided to vacum the inside of their case.
Now that they have done this it won’t do anything. When hitting the power button the running light comes on , as does the HDD light and the PSU fan spins but the CPU fan doesn’t run at all.
There are no beeps from the mobo and no output from the onboard vga.
So far I have tried the following:
Swapped out the memory
Reseated absolutely everything (cpu included)
Tested with a known good PSU
Isolated the motherboard and powered up (thinking it might be a grounding issue).
Also just for a laugh I tried powering up the board without the CPU installed and oddly enough the CPU fan spins when you do this.
I’m certain that some component somewhere is fubar but i’d like to work out which one before I lay down any cash.
Instinct tells me it’s a motherboard issue (given the fact CPUs don’t often break).
Any ideas?
Thanks
Motherboard is a GA-k8vm800m with a sempron 3000+ processor.

this suggests to me the CPU may be faulty

I can confirm that the CMOS jumper is there, Have already swapped out the PSU so I think that rules out 12v core connector and the CPU fan does spin when the CPU isn’t installed so i’m guessing it isn’t a fan issue either. I’m begining to think maybe it is the CPU at fault myself unfortunately without something to test it in it’s going to be tough to pin down. Fortunately it’s a socket 754 system so at least the bits will be cheap enough if I do need to replace them.
