multiple headaches

hello
I recently volenteered to update and repair a number of computers for a youth dropin center for my area. I’ve only begun the first 3 and what a nightmare when you don’t know what has been done by whom in the past.

1st: generic IBM clone with win 95 and cirrus video card (display shows 3 mirror images overlaped,cd rom recognizes all types of cd’s as audio only and won’t load software.

2nd e-machine 700 mhz pentium( usb hardware will not be recognized by puter) plugs check out-power goes to devices- but cannot gain access.win 98,dvd.

  1. The video card might be fried. As for the cd-drive, the cable might be faulty.

  2. Make sure the mobo connectors are all at their respective places and uninstall/reinstall the ports in Windows. Because it’s Windows 98, things such as memory sticks will need drivers to be recognized.
