Pioneer DVR-A04 dvd writer

I have the above mention writer however, for the past few days it refuses to recognise or read cds. For dvds it’s a cinch and works flawlessly. but does zilch with a cd. What could be the cause of this. do dvd’s and cd’s use seperate lenses???

I have checked the drive on another machine and it had the same problem, so it can’t be my machine or software. Any suggestions will do great… thanks.

I’d try updating the bios if you haven’t already. You can get it here.

If that doesn’t work I’d send it in on warranty as something is wrong since it supports cd-r/rw at 4x.
