Question about Crutial memory

I cant figure out if there is a difference between these two memory sets:

Crucial Ballistix (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800

and this

Crucial Ballistix Tracer (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800

They both have the same specs (2.2v 4-4-4-12 2T @400mhz)

Both can be found on Newegg. Model number: BL2KIT12864AA804 and BL2KIT12864AL804.

Aside from the really cool leds, is the hardware any different.

I know that the tracer can do 333mhz @ 3-3-3-8 2T. If the non-trace version can do the same, then I will just get that instead. I’m looking for good memory go along with an E8400, with no over clocking of the CPU. I’m trying to go energy efficient.

Can anyone point me to a review that shows how tight the timings can go on the non-tracer version, I tried looking, no luck.

I took a look for my self and there seems to be no difference at all so i would recommend you get the Crucial Ballistix 2GB as it’s cheaper ($49)

BTW i don’t understand where you got the info on (2.2v 4-4-4-12 2T @400mhz)???

its recommended timmings are 4-4-4-12 at 2.2 volts. and if i assume correctly, all PC2-6400 ram has a real clock speed of 400mhz standard, but can bechanged to match the CPU’s clock speed.

Ah ok you assumed it because i couldn’t find it on the newegg website, sorry but I’m a bit slow this morning (it’s 8:23am in UK :x:)

I figured if it was 1T, they would have said so. its ok, i cant think untill 11am normally.
