Strange TV/ Broadband Puzzle

One for those who like puzzles.

A colleague at work has a Thomson 32 inch TV and Broadband through BT. Broadband works fine until the TV is switched on. If anything (arial, Scart, lead)is connected to the TV when it is on, the Internet connection stops - every time. This problem doesnt occur if the TV is on but not connected to anything else. It doesnt happen with any other TV in the same place (a portable was tried). When the ‘offending’ item is taken out of the TV the connection restarts after a few minutes.

It isnt the ADSL fiter (for SKY) this was tested and even if disconnected the same problem occurs with anything else connected.
There are no wireless connections in the house. There is no house alarm connected to the phone line (for the police).
He contacted Thomsons who advised of no known Broadband issues.

The only possible clue might be that he was advised that he is on the extreme end of the range for his connection - could this leave his system/ connection ‘fragile’ in some way?

Any suggestions welcome

:ohah:

i don’t know what your problem is but it sounds as though it could be a setting in the Thompson telly (if there are any) otherwise good luck with it.
