"Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator"

Hi everyone,

When I try to access Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) I get a popup saying ( Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator) I go to regedit and I change to a [I]0 and I click OK, then the Task Manager starts working, but after I turn the computer OFF and ON, I have the same problem, and I have to do the same, to make work.
There are no other accounts on this computer & it is Windows XP.
Does anyone have any suggestions??

Many thanks in advance,

Carl :good:

oop’s! i clicked thanks by accident! u’ve now been helpfull one time! :notme:

edit the thanks has been corrected, sorry!edit

anyway, Is this computer part of a network by any chance… with network admins trying to stop you getting into these things! lol

try booting the computer up in safe mode and using the Administrator account to make the changes, i dont know if this will work but its worth a try.

-To access safe mode: hold F8 when you first turn the computer on
-The administrator account will only appear in safe mode btw

I dont know if you allready know this [the above 2 bullet points] just thought it was best to include ii… just in case!

Editing the registry manually can be slow… why not use Xteq? http://www.tucows.com/preview/219636

Do you have Windows XP Professional?
