This Amd or This Intel!!

HI there,

I am currently deciding between two systems.

The first is a

Intel P4 3.4Ghz
Asus P5ad2 premium motherboard

The other is

Amd Athlon 64 3500+
Asus A8n-sli deluxe motherboard

These configurations will both fit inside the antec plusview 1000amg right?

Which system is more preferred?

The Athlon 64 setup, and since both are ATX formfactor motherboards, they’ll fit fine in that Antec.

Athlon 64 Definately, and yes the Antec will fit them no problems.

what graphics cards should i get with this?

For a high end system like that something like a Geforce 6800GT or the cheaper Geforce 6600GT. Or you can go for the ATi offering which is the X800s or X700s.

Don’t get the X700, it really does not compare with the Nvidia range of SLI / PCI-E

As addis has suggested:
ATI X800 / X800Pro / X800XT / X800XT Platinum Edition
Nvidia 6600GT / 6800 / 6800GT / 6800Ultra

Here you are talking about £200-£400 depending on which one you go for, personally i would get a 6800 or 6800GT.

Yea i forgot about the SLI option with the nVidia cards. Get on of the Geforce 6600 or 6800.

What is more preferred, a 6600 256 mb, or a 6600 gt 128 mb?

If you want SLi, then you’ll have to go with the 6600GT. Secondly, it’s got a faster clock speed, which, depending on the situation, can make up for 128MB of RAM. Personally, I’d go with the 6600GT.
