Transfer Files from Laptop to PC

Any idea how to get a bunch of files from a laptop to a pc? I have tried burnig a disk, but it fails each time, most likely due to the cheap cd’s.

Can I connect the two together somehow and simply drag and drop the folder, or do I need an internet connection or something?

Thanks.

You should be able to network them with two cat5 patch cables and a router/hub.
then basically drag the files from laptop into the shared doc’s and then access them via desktop through
my network places.

I’m a bit rusty so if i missed anything do tell

Actually, all you need is a crossover cable and just make sure to share the folder(s) on the laptop you want to transfer over. Unshare them when you’re done.

:dah: didn’t think of that. good call B :good:

I think you can also have a USB-USB Network Bridge cable!

You can, but if either of the systems has less than USB 2.0, you’ll be transferring your data at less than 10MiB… in other words, I hope you have a lot of patience, 'cause it’s gonna take forever. Might wanna wax the car while you’re transferring those files… :stuck_out_tongue:

ok, but can someone please show me how??

You’d have to buy one, and it’d come with special software and instructions. You can also use a crossover cable and Windows file sharing.
