Trouble building new system

I’ll keep this short:

System:
-CPU: AMD PHENOM X4 9950
-GRAPHICS: ATI HD 4870
-MEMORY: OCZ DDRII PC 8500, 2*2048
-MOTHERBOARD: GIGABYTE GA-MA790x-DS4 (AM2+ socket, 790X Chipset)
-POWER: THERMALTAKE Toughpower 750 Watts

Here is my problem: I build my system on minimal config (no hard drives, no CD drives, no Mouse, no Keyboard), to make sure things are working fine:
I turn on my system and everything seems fine, But I can’t get a visual output on my screen (regardless of cable type). Pressing the on button does turn on the computer though (all the fans turn etc.)

I then realize I did not hear a single beep during post. Just to try, I removed the graphic card and the memory(only motherboard+cpu), and I did not get a single beep during post (with no memory nor graphic card, something HAS to be wrong). Further more, if everything IS fine, then I should get a single beep to confirm successful Bios load.

What should I do?
Do you think my MotherBoard is faulty?

At first, check if the cable of the system speaker is correctly connected to the motherboard (correct location and polarity).

Now with the graphics card, if I’m right then the card needs to be connected to the power supply. There are 1 or 2 power connectors on the card.

Isn’t the speaker embedded onto the Motherboard? At least for system beeps?

My case (Anteac P182) doesn’t have any speaker system, but does have a line out jack. I tried plugging my loudspeakers to the motherboard speaker out jack (the green one), but that doesn’t help.

Do you think it is just that I cannot hear the system beeps?

There have never been any speakers on a motherboard. These reside in the computer case itself, and can be connected with a red/black cable labeled Speaker (if available). The connection lies very close to the connection of the power button on the motherboard.

I always thought POST beeps were emitted by the bios/motherboard.
Are you saying I don’t hear them, maybe because I miss-connected my case to the motherboard?

You are right, and it turns out my case doesn’t have any speakers either.
I’m pretty angry, what with the case supposed to be high-end :mad:

What should I do to diagnose this problem? I don’t have any spare parts…

Have you checked that the graphics card is also connected to the power supply directly?

Yeah. I had to use 2*6pin PCI. I’m going to try to just rebuild everything, and see if it works. Maybe something was just miss-connected, and the lack of a POST beep made me paranoid. I’ll keep you posted.
