USB/Ethernet modem problems

Hi to all who read this

I have a scientific atlanta 2100 series modem.
i have set it up using the usb cable but i need to set it up using the ethernet cable instead so i can then link it to a wireless router.

the problem is that when i insert the Blueyonder installation cd it only gives me the option of connecting via usb and NOT ethernet.

i wouldnt mind if it had always done this but this is now the 3rd time im installing this modem and the previous 2 times i was allowed to use the ethernet cable.

i heard one of my mates say something about a downloadable patch.
but as i was previously allowed to connect via ethernet i wont bother with this patch just yet.

All help is greatly appreciated.

more info would be helpful:
exact model number
and i assume XP SP2

You don’t need any extra software to use an ethernet modem. Just connect to your PC, make sure network settings are correct (default should be fine).
