I ask this because there are two different models of an AMD processor that I’m considering (6000+). They are exactly the same price, both are 95W, but here are the differences:
Model “A” is 65nm, 3.1 GHz, only 1MB L2 cache
Model “B” is 90nm, 3.0 GHz, 2x1MB (2MB) L2 cache
To me, Model “B” seems like a better buy because of the cache, but I’m stumped as to what the real difference is between the 65nm and 90nm versions. Why would they be the same price?
Thanks for the reply. I think I’ll go with the 65nm version then, despite the smaller cache. I’m more worried about heat and durability issues than I am about a slight bump in performance.
