2kPro SP4 Vs. Centrino?!

My mom got a laptop much needed for work. It's a [email protected], centrino. My only concern will be if 2kPro will be able to utilize the wireless internet. That's all I care about. I can't install linux because she needs to run countless MS programs on it :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

So, Will it work?
 
Well, i know that wireless cards will work with Windows 2000 if that's what you mean.
 
nah, the onboard wireless through 'centrino technology' Just wonering if anyone knows it if will work. Don't feel like wasting time on an MS app.
 
screw it. Can anyone explain to me how to send a virus to destry her boot sector? I really don't want any more of her S**** and killer her computer is the only way to make her understand at this point, to be blunt she's just too f****ckin retarded.

I just need a quick how to.
 
well it's the only way I will be able to convince her of winxp security issues. I don't want her to get all her work stuff, and my mo'ms bf's work stuff on her laptop hacked and have me be livin' on the streets.
 
Yeah, that would have a negative effect on the time you get to spend on computers.
 
Yeah. I'd have to get a cheap laptop with wireless and steal from someone's connection without a password :)
 
Centrino Wireless technology should work perfectly on Win2kPro however, it just depends if there are Windows 2000 compatible drivers available for your mothers laptop model & make.

I presume it came with Windows XP? if so leave it on, Windows XP / Pro is fine for anyone, especially your mother since she has a son with IT knowledge.

Just install a Firewall (Sygate Personal Firewall) - Disable System Restore, Disable Windows Messaging Service, Disable File & Print Sharing, Install AVG 7 or something similiar, Install Mozilla FireFox for web browsing (if you have to disguise the Icon as the IE 6 icon :)), Install Mozilla Thunderbird as a replacement for Outlook (if so disguise the icon as the Outlook\Express Icon), Install Spybot S&D and set it to run when she first boots up, and to auto update.

As for the wireless, she should be able to move between Wireless networks perfectly (secure / public one's) as long as someone enters the wireless WPA Encryption key as per which network she is connected, the computers software should remember this. - Just set the wireless to connect to what ever network it feels is better (the one with the strongest signal).
