300W PSU + DX10 - What Graphics Card To Buy?

Okay Thanks! Two more questions, if the PSU is removed and replaced will you have to reboot the system? And, are you sure this is compatible with my motherboard?
 
Yep the PSU should deffenitly be compatible with your motherboard, if the PSU is an ATX 2.2 or something PSU and the mobo is ATX, it will work, no you wont need to re install windows, a PSU just gives power to the PC :p
 
Its deffenitly going to be Micro ATX or ATX, the PSU will deffenitly work.

Programs like SISoftware Sandra can tell you everyhting about your computer, but generally, Micros ATX are smaller than ATX :)
 
Okay thanks. I'll most likely get a Hiper PSU or the Antec one, it depends on my funds. I think the Hiper 580W can run a DX10 tho and its cheaper so I might get that....
 
Yea its a good PSU, i have the Hiper Type-R 580W, i aint sure about placing a card like an 8800GTX into it, some people on others forums says it will run it fine, but i dunno, the 730W will deffenitly run it though.
 
True, I also am not totally sure. However, the guys who recommended it to me are pretty knowledgable in computers and like you said...it ain't really about the wattage so much as the quality of the make and the rails...

Alright thanks i'll take that into account. I'll do a final check at the store whether or not this PSU can take a 7600GS, and if it can't i'll just upgrade the PSU then. At the moment we have a lot of bills from moving and buying new stuff, car etc. So I don't want to spending a whole ton at this point if you guys know what I mean, but i'll definitely take a look at it all before I make a decision. I'll most likely have to upgrade but who knows. Thanks for the help tho guys, I appreciate it!:cool:

Unless they've changed, HP doesn't rig their PSU's and motherboard ATX connections like Dell does, so my thoughts on the tech that told you your PC would fry with a new power supply is that they're an idiot. What could be a factor is if you use a slim PC that has a specially designed power supply. You wouldn't find a power supply with enough wattage that would be physically compatible with the case. But, as far as a new one causing problems, no, that's not true.
