I'm beginning to realize my new TV really isn't so great. Granted it's probably the cheapest 25-30" HD display available but 1080i, while it sounds nice doesn't always work great in practice. Sometimes it's fine, like for DVD's and certain games, but in certain instances it just seems to be sluggish and rough, like for slow, fucused camera pans in games, and frantic action.
So basically I want to get a few for the best route I can take. Granted I haven't tested a PS3 or X360 on my TV naturally so I can't judge them but it's fairly safe to say I might want to move my TV down stairs for my parents and get a new one. What your take on 720p vs. 1080i? Do any of you notice a big or reasonable difference in video quality and or speed/smoothness? I'm not looking to get, nor can I afford a huge display so 1080p isn't worth the money at all as far as I can see, plus it's brand new so I'd wait a few years for it to improve anyway.
But the real question is should I opt for a nice HDTV, for instance something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16889107001
or pick up a nice large Computer monitor and use that for my pc and console/s? It's pretty clear cut what to look for in a HDTV but I'm a bit confused when it comes to comparing a HDTV vs. a computer monitor. Do I need to look for a HD computer monitor to display say a 360 game in HD or would any display work? Is there something really special to concider that makes a big difference. And most importantly is there any vast image quality difference between the two?
One last thing, since LCD monitors have a native resolution doesn't lowering it to say, play a new game at a higher fps count degrade the image quality? Or is that barely noticeable thesedays?
Thanks all:)
