Best Anime

Anti-Trend

Nonconformist Geek
OK, I like Japanese animation very much... or some of it anyway. Which brings me to my problem: there's a lot of very poor anime out there, and I've wasted far too much time in the past wading through it. Since my schedule prevents me from doing that anymore, I'm looking for input on must-watch animes. You know, those gems in the rough that would be an outright tragedy to pass up. I don't care if it's older anime or if it's so new it isn't even licensed in the US yet. Any suggestions would be great. :)

Noir
Kiddy Grade
Full Metal Alchemist
Stellvia of the Universe
RahXephon
Full Metal Panic!
Hellsing
Martian Successor Nadesico
anything you see in my list in my DVD collection (link in sig)

Angelic Layer looks pretty good, but I've only seen the first ep. Supposed to be pretty good as well

Thanks, that's what I'm talkin' about! As for Angelic Layer, I watched the whole thing fansubbed when it first came out in Japan. It's pretty good... not exactly a 'must-have', but it was better than you'd think for its genre.

I really love RahXephon. Saw the fansubs and was like I'm getting this when it's liscensed, which I did. It 0wnz Evangelion.

Kiddy Grade vol 2 is supposed to be out today, but BB probably won't have it until Thursday.

Have you seen Excel Saga? I've heard it's good, but by somebody who loves everything anime -- not a picky person.

No, but I hear it's insane. Speaking of, FLCL is nuts, and I've only watched the first ep, after which I was like, WTF?

It's a very short series: 6 eps long, but it's just crazy. Brought to you by the same folks (Gainax) that worked on Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Insane in a good way, or a Michael Jackson way?

Gotta say the best Anime series is Berserk, followed closely by Guyver. but hey there's a shit load of good anime out there.

I've only seen the Guyver live-action ...let's just say that some stuff is better left animated. The comic was pretty intresting, though.
