bigger monitor = better graphics?

hello, a workmate told me that gettin a bigger monitor will make the graphics (in general, ie vortex shaders 1-3) a lot better, i am confused :confused:

i have a 15" already, so will gettin a bigger one magically show better graphics?
 
Rendered graphics will only look better if you raise the screens resolution in games. Running your 7800GT with a 15" screen is not really releasing it's full potential.

Thats not really important, instead of the actual graphics card model you buy. Depending on your budget you're looking at a Geforce 7600GT for a mid/high range card, or for a high end card a Geforce 7900GT or a Radeon X1900XT.

That guy is very misinformed. As already mentioned, vertex shaders are part of the graphics chip, not the monitor.

Functionally, a monitor and a TV are the same. A monitor is able to run much higher resolutions (typically 1280 x 1024 to 1600x1200 on decent 17"-19"+) and have the refresh rate to go with it. That's why a 20" TV costs significantly less than a 20" monitor.

A bigger monitor would allow for a higher resolution with an acceptable refresh rate (it's rather painful to use 60Hz with 1024x768 and higher)
