Blu Ray Stuttering Issue

Before I get to the issue, here are my PC specs:

AMD Phenom II X4 B50 @ 3.21 ghz
4 GB ram
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
SATA HDD
SATA Lite-On 4x Blu Ray drive
Sapphire Radeon HD 5670 (1GB)
500 watt Rosewill PSU
42" Sony Bravia attached via VGA

I am experiencing an occasional (every couple of minutes) stutter during blu ray playback on my PC. Both the sound and video stop. I have tried both Total Media Theater and Power DVD HD, both the newest versions. All my drivers are of course up to date. I've tried disabling Avast antivirus and everything else in the background. I've tried lowering the resolution. I've tried using HDMI instead. I am currently @ 1920 x 1080 @ 60hz (59 is my only other option in AMD Vision Control Center).

Any ideas?

If you have not done so already, I would try running a memory test to see if there are any problems with your ram. You can use memtest86+ or windows 7 should have its own memory testing program as well that you could run. If either comes back with errors then some of your ram is going bad. Something else you can try is cleaning up your hard disk of old/cluttered files. You can use a program called CCleaner to clean up your hard drive of any junk files that are just taking up space. You may also want to check the buffering in whatever media application you are running to see if you can increase the size of it. This allows it to prestore more data as the movie is running, the more of the movie it can store ahead of time, the smoother it can play it. I know that helps when viewing online videos, not 100% sure if it plays a role in bluray watching though, but it couldnt hurt to try it. Something else you can try too is running a prime95 stress test on your cpu to see if it is getting errors.
 
Thanks for your reply. Ran a memory test and CPU test with no problems. Also, I regularly clean my PC with both CCleaner and Glary's Utilities. As for the buffering, neither TMT or PowerDVD have any kind of adjustable buffering built-in.
 
When you are watching a movie, is your cpu maxing out to 100% useage and staying there? Blu Ray movies that are done in the newer codecs can make the cpu you max out if the graphics card is not helping with the decoding from what I have read.
 
DISABLE VIRTUAL CD DRIVES (such as PowerISO/CloneCD etc)

It worked for me, if the software used to work before, then this simple work will solve it.

After setting no of virtual drives to 0, may need to relaunch the BD-Ray playback software - such as PowerDVD 10 ;):p

[somehow the virtual CD/DVD drive simulation made the disc access slower]
