C+C Generals Deluxe not working!!

I installed the deluxe edition of generals and the game would not start. Installed expansion pack and Zero Hour (expansion) worked perfectly. I have tried contacting EA Support, but all I am told is what I already new...install DX9b, update graphics drivers, check system specs...anyone else get this problem, of being able to play one of the games, but not the other? If so, any ideas on how to fix it?

theres also DX9c, it comes with SP2. It can be found on the web, do a search on google.com or you can download from http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/winxpsp2.mspx

have you tried the compatibility mode in XP?
