Cannot restore "Bookmarks" in Mozilla FireFox 1.0PR

I just formatted my drive and reinstalled Firefox 1.0 PR. Befor formatting I backed up the bookmarks file which is found in : C:\Documents and Settings\User_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default.y5p.

Now I went back to this directory to restore my bookmarks file. I deleted the existent bookmarks file and put the one I backed up. The problem is that Firefox is still recognizing the old deleted file.

How can I make it recognize my backed up file?
 
You say that you deleted the original, however if you had deleted the original you would not have this problem, so make sure mozilla is not running, then copy your new profile across, also make sure that there are no other profiles being used.

And make sure mozzilla is set to use one profile only..
