Cant access properties

Problem is quite simple. I cannot access my properties through right clicking on desktop and clicking properties. If I do an hourglass appears for a second then dissapears. If I go into taskmanger it doesnt show the program even taking place for a second.

I have tried getting their through other ways like control panel and my computer but none work.

It was happned to me as well sometimes ago. I rectified it by doing system restore to the previous working point.

Have you tried rebooting your machine and then trying?
Can you access properties in SAFE mode?

Please download & run this registry script:
Restore Properties
Right-Click > Save Link As
or
Right-Click > Save Target As

Save it to your desktop and then run it.

that is a no go on the link but thx chris for the help. And this system restore, will it require me to wipe my hdd? If not can u direct me through it?

No. But it will remove all the softwares you have installed after that "time you will select" in the system restore. You will not loose any important data like your pictures, word files...
In my case it was happned when I was trying to uninstall the IE7 Beta and process didnt complete. What did you do when this thing happned?

For System Restore
Start > Properties > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore;
