cdrw will not burn to disc

Hi all, I have a Atapi cdrw in a mesh PC with AMD Athlon xp2800, I can copy a CD from dvd rom drive to a CDR in CDRW but i am unable to burn from a file to a CDR. Every time i try it says "user aborted" anyone any ideas please.
 
I'd try some different media. You may just have some media that your burner doesn't fancy.

Of course, make sure your burner software is updated to the latest patch.
 
many thanks will try that, I deleted XP service pack 2 because I thought that was the problem but did not make any difference.
 
have downloaded and installed nero 5.5 updater still u/s. It starts the burn process as before and after 30 secs it shows "SCSI/IDE Command Aborted" anyway many thanks for the ideas.
