Celeron Vs Pentium

    I read that the Pentium 4 simply slows itself down if it gets too hot. I can't measure the temps of my Pentium 4 because the crappy eMachines motherboard (an Intel 845GVSR reference board) doesn't appear to have sensors installed :mad:

    No, it was actualy sent to me by a very good freind and an Intel employee in a tongue-in-cheek reply to the ultimate question - AMD or Intel.

    [ot]I did not choose Intel because of this experiment[/ot]

    I think that Intel chips are suppose to 'stop' if overheated but if you keep the juice running, wouldn't the silicone fry, effectively burning the CPU? Or the fact that there is no activity in the processor means that no heat is generated?
