Changing Laptop graphics cards

Hello,
I know it is possible to change graphics cards on laptops but I know it is hard and is a dirty job. What I understand is that the Nvidia GeForce 7900 GTX is the most advanced graphics card on the market. (Or is the Quardo?) I would like to install it on my laptop. I know I saw an article on putting it into a Dell E1705 laptop but I have the E1505. I am wondering if it will be possible to put that in or bring it to a computer store and have them fix it. I do not know how much it will cost. I have the X1400 and I know that is a low end card. Thanks.

is your question how to install a gpu, -or- are you asking if the gpu will work with your laptop (or both lol :chk:)

if you simply just wanna change the gpu then the gpu panel should be located on the base of the laptop, likewise with your ram and hdd.
 
Its that simple? So basically just unscrew the screws on the bottom and then just switch it?:doh: Also is the quadra better than the 7900 GTX? Thanks.

i have no idea sorry, but the 7900 GTX is one of the latest gpu's and it will be extreamly good for your laptop, if quadra are them cards with 4processors that aren't out yet (i doubt your meaning THESE gpus) then yeh they're well damn faster but sence your not talkin about them:confused:

pps,. i dont believe its ALWAYS possible to change GPUs in laptops as they are already integerated into the main board, you'll be lucky if you could upgrade at all
 
If it was possible, y would u wanna do it, laptops r not made for games (if this is y u wanna change it). I would sell it and get a desktop pc, ull be able to get better parts and and they are more upgradable.

Quadro cards aren't good for gaming, but for graphic design. and vice versa. You can't change you laptop's graphics card if it isn't mmx or something like that. Usually laptops have their graphics cards onboard with the motherboard. If you have an MMX graphics card you can then swap it for the card of your choice.
 
This is for Gaming. I don't want a desktop ever because they are not portable. I would like to always be able to carry stuff around. So I will try to do this. Does anyone know where I can find the 7900 GTX Go graphics card on newegg or some site to buy it? I can't find it. Thanks.

Find out if your laptop has the ability to change out the graphics first. If it doesn't have a removable graphics module, you can't do it.
 
I know for a fact that the Dell Inspiron E1505 has an upgradable graphics capability. The service manual is on their site. I have the same laptop so I have done the research. I also intend to upgrade my optical drive, hard drive, memory, cpu, and add bluetooth. Basically this is a powerhouse PC for a budget price. What should happen is once you connect the new graphics device is it should ignore the onboard graphics completely as long as you connect it properly. If this does not happen then you may have to remove the original driver, but I would consult with a computer expert before uninstalling the original driver. Coincidentally, these computers are the equivalent of an Apple Macbook Pro, which are known to have some of the best graphics available on any computer. The hardware you need will depend alot on what games you wish to play. Many people are under the mistaken impression that all but the most expensive laptops cannot be upgraded, but this is quickly becoming a thing of the past as companies seek to draw in more consumers. Remember, Michael Dell built Dell Computers, Inc. on customization for each customer. Dells will always have some wiggle room on upgrades because of this company philosophy.
