My gaming comp. is dead and when I try to boot with my new xp pro disc I get the blue screen of death and says I have an unmountable boot volume.I am not sure if this is some how connected to the deletion of 27 trojon viruses my daughter downloaded   can anyone help?

Are you sure your booting from it correctly? Sorry no offense just asking how far does the boot from disc go until it tells you.

    3 scenarios come to mind:
1.)The driver for the hard drive controller has been deleted, hosed, or otherwise messed with.
2.)The hard drive is toast. If you've heard some clicking coming from the hard drive, that's a real good sign it's on it's way out.
3.)There were some BIOS changes made that affect the stability and/or the hard drive settings. Clear CMOS to fix this. You may have to go back in and change the CPU values to have it run at the proper speed, as well as change any custom settings you have.
