I have an 8-year old Sony PC-110 video camera that works great and have always captured video through firewire using a Pyro video card.
I just purchased a new Dell XPS 8500 and, when I ordered it, the support person told me they don't come with firewire ports anymore and I would just need to buy a cable to go from mini-dv to HDMI. Didn't sound right to me, but I assumed they knew what they were talking about. The video card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 1GB GDDR5.
Anyone have any idea how I can connect my video camera to the computer so I can use Premiere to capture the video?? Not sure I can even get a firewire card anymore...would hate to have to get a new camera with an HDMI port.
Thanks!!
