CPU not starting? no picture in screen.

hi evryone i have tired to get my PC to run which has K8VM800m mother board and AMD sempron processor. Only the PC's other fans start, but not the processors and i get no picture in the monitor.

Ive tried to everything to locate this starting problem, including putting some silicon between CPU and heat sink as well tried different memory modules.

I dont get any PC speaker sounds, which according to the manual could help to solve this problem, but the mother board doesnt seem to have place for the PC speaker wire.

anything i could still try to locate this problem? i dont have spare processor .

PS. i think the CPU could be on.. as it seems to become warmer, i'm unsure though.


SO IN SHORT:
No picture in monitor, CPU fan does not spin.
 
try another video card.

if that doesn't work....

get one of those HEX debug cards.....

Hi, your system isn't posting. most probably because of the cpu fan is not working. Some motherboard bios's are like that they will not post if the cpu fan is not working, it's a fail safe to stop your cpu from overheating. So first of all I would start off with system bios reset cmos and also replace your cpu fan. If no joy it's a problem with the following: Motherboard, Cpu, RAM, Graphics card or power supply unit.

after resetting the cmos and installing a new cpu fan. start with swopping ram about, then try psu and graphics card, followed by your cpu. if still no post sorry to say but your motherboard is the problem, could be anythin from faulty essential controllers e.g. memory controller to mosfet voltage regulators or the bios chip itself.

The most common thermal interface material is white silicon compound. Not the best for thermal transfer, but it does work.

Was this a proper silicon compound in a plunger tube or perhaps a blister pack (see attached thumbnails), or was it the type of silicon you might caulk a window pane with? Also, was the heatsync and CPU surface clean when you applied it, or did it still have a grayish thermal transfer pad or paste on it? Also, is the CPU fan plugged into the header on the motherboard?

CPU heat issues aside, it's quite possible that your PSU has died. Can you please provide the make and model?

i dont know what to say except that the cpu cooler works if i plug the cable in the board cooler pins.
So it seems that the PC just decides not to run the fan, which according to my logic means the CPU is not OK.

Anti-Trend:
the silicon is bit dirt (gray) could that be the cause then? (it should be silicon for computers however) I wonder if this mainboard wont allow the CPU run if it doesnt have the cooling thing properly attached...



BTW the processor is: AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3100+

I have tried with two different PSU.

It is possible that the fan header for the CPU is simply burnt out. It does happen from time to time. Many BIOSes will shut down to system to avoid damage if the CPU fan registers as 0 RPMs. Even if this feature is not enabled, it's possible that the CPU was simply overheating since the CPU fan is not spinning. The CPU itself could also be fried as a result, it's tough to tell based on the info you've given us so far.

If the compound is dirty, that's bad. If it's silver or gray right out of the tube, that's fine. Some thermal compounds like Arctic Silver are gray in color, and cool a lot better than cheap white silicon. So, which is it? Is the thermal compound dirty, or is it gray in color? In any case that wouldn't prevent your system from booting, but it's good to avoid potential problems before they occur.

i tried the fan on the mainboard's cooler pins, and it runs in there. but when i put the cable in the pins dedicated for the cpu fan it doesnt run.
doesnt this mean that the fan it self is 100% ok?
 
The fan it self is fine because it works on any fan header apart from your cpu fan header. So therfor your cpu fan header is faulty and it's a essential to have that fan connected at all times in order for the bios to post to prevent your cpu from overheating. so you need a new motherboard.
