dial-up connection box has gone missing!

I reinstalled windows XP a while ago since when I don't get a dial-up connection box when I open Outlook Express.I have to connect by clicking on the isp link shortcut I've put on the desktop.

Although this in itself isn't so much of an inconvience, I'd just like to know where it's gone!! :confused:

By the by, OE was copied from the old installation and transfered to the new.
 
Yes, my dad's computer has the same problem. I tried to fix this, attempted in vain. I could tell you how to do this in Outlook 2003 but that would have you buying Microsoft Office 2003, not a cheap item.

No, it would be the same.

I can only assume you are on broadband, and are using the software that came with the modem?

If this is the case, try creating a new connection using XP's wizard. Make it the default connection, and then try again. Let us know your result.

The new connection will do the same as the ISP one, but is integrated into the programs better.

No, I'm not - can't afford it!!!! Does that make a difference?

Well it's odd that you should have software for your IPS, unless its AOL..

Most just give you an account name, number, and you just enter them into Windows standard connection box.
 
Well, I do know that the connection configuration fo OE is the same as the one for IE. try entering the Internet Explorer connection configuration page and changing the radio button from 'Never dial a connection' to 'Always dial my default connection'. That my not be exactly how its worded but its close.
