Do I need a Sound Card?

I have a motherboard that have already 7.1 sound output, optimal audio output, hdmi output, should I get a sound card or not?

For me the simple answer is NO! i've never purchased a sound card myself as onboard has always worked fine.

I read in the past, that you'd need high end equipment to notice any difference!

One of my friends went as far as saying that his new sound card improved his game performance.. but i think that's a bit farfetched. My friend gave me his Sound Blaster X-Fi and i can't distinguish between it and my onboard sounds...
