does mobo require 4pin 12v connector

    hello
    i shud be getting an asus m2n-e mobo which has 24pin atx connector and 4pin 12v connector.
    i am supposed to connect the 24 pin power connector and the 4 pin 12v connector aswell arent i. (in other words they shud both be connected shudnt they)
    wanted to make sure

    Yeah, they should be connected. I don't know if it's true, but often times, if a motherboard had the 4-pin 12V connector and it wasn't plugged in, the board wouldn't boot.

    Yeah sometimes they don't boot as often that connector is used to supply power to the CPU (if I remember correctly)

    It was, although with 24-pin PSU's in the mix, that might not be entirely correct these days. Needless to say, if there's a power connector on the motherboard, it's not there for looks...

    Yup, my motherboard has 20pin motherboard connector and then a 4pin connector located near the CPU socket. I've never tried booting without that 4pin connector in though.

    so its the 24pin atx plus the 4pin extra 12v connector. jus wanted to make sure
