hello i shud be getting an asus m2n-e mobo which has 24pin atx connector and 4pin 12v connector. i am supposed to connect the 24 pin power connector and the 4 pin 12v connector aswell arent i. (in other words they shud both be connected shudnt they) wanted to make sure thx
Yeah, they should be connected. I don't know if it's true, but often times, if a motherboard had the 4-pin 12V connector and it wasn't plugged in, the board wouldn't boot.
Yeah sometimes they don't boot as often that connector is used to supply power to the CPU (if I remember correctly)
It was, although with 24-pin PSU's in the mix, that might not be entirely correct these days. Needless to say, if there's a power connector on the motherboard, it's not there for looks...
Yup, my motherboard has 20pin motherboard connector and then a 4pin connector located near the CPU socket. I've never tried booting without that 4pin connector in though.
