Okay, I'm going to be working on my dad's computer this weekend, since it needs to be reformatted, and he's not exactly computer literate. So I called him up and tried to find out what kind of video card he has on his system. It's kind of a crappy system, and it's all integrated components on his mobo. Anyway, he looked into his control panel, and told me that the card/chipset is a Savage4 by S3 Inc. I've looked around on the web and I know that these are not being made or supported. My question is this though: without him having high speed access to the net, will Windows XP support that particular card without much trouble or should I go ahead and spend a few bucks on an older-but-cheaper card? Keep in mind, he isn't into gaming really so he doesn't need anything spectacular. I'd like to hold off on buying him a card until maybe Father's Day or something. Oh, and I should also mention that I don't know what kind of mobo he has, or if it even has an AGP slot, which is why I want to hold off buying him something for it.

Yeah, XP should work fine with that card. I'd make sure he has at least 256MB of RAM tho, especially since the on-board video is likely using some of the system memory for it.
Off the top of my head, I believe that VIA might have made that Savage4 chip, since they bought out the graphics part of S3 (now SonicBlue) awhile back. If not, they still might support it.
