dwl-122 adaptor problem

My daughter switched her pc on this morning and couldn't connect to the net.A message comes up saying that a usb device has malfunctioned. I have reinstalled the drivers for the adaptor and tried the adaptor in another pc and it works fine. The usb ports on her pc seem ok as Ive tried other devices such as mouse,camera etc. What could the problem be?. Any help appreciated.
 
try plugging it into a different USB port (there's usually at least 2 on a pc or 4 on a modern pc
also try uninstaling USB drivers then reboot & reinstall
 
ive tried different usb ports but still have problem. The same thing arises when trying to charge ipod. Seems usb ports aren't putting out enough power.Are they shot?. If so, is there a cure?.

I haven't tried the usb drivers bit yet as I cant find the mobo disc.
 
Ive cured it by installing a pci usb card I just happened to have lying about.
