Yeah I don't doubt a lot of the content is bases on a completely different engine but there must be a few legacy influences if some old content is compatable at all but I'm not really up with these things. All I mean by this is perhaps the whole project, dispite how long it took to make already, might have been a bit rushed and corners were cut so in the end we ended up with a very poorly optimized and super demanding game.

Honestly i'm waiting till ATI launches there series. I think by now and with AMD's help the drivers will be stable and they have a lot more flexibility. So i think you should at least wait till the prices go down a little more, as there aren't eve any games out yet, and till ATI's cards come out. IMO

That's fine, the 8800GTS will be plenty for pretty much anything.

well exfoliate is right, but if it makes you feel better, i wish i had waited. I ended up buying a whole other PC a month later because i was unhappy with what i got, plus stuff came out.

I'd have to agree actually as I kind of bought when I really didn't have the proper amount of cash to do all I wanted. You'll be in better shape as you're not really skimping here, but I can definately see the advantages of waiting to see how the competition dictates what happens with nVidia.

FSX runs great with the 8800GTS for me... Vista/DX10 on an AMD 64 X2 5000+ duocore. FSX is apparently written for a single processor. Framerates go up significantly on my duocore by going into Task Manager and switching the fsx.exe "app priority" to Realtime and "processor affinity" for the app to single processor... so with a single processor you should be fine I'd think. Also helps to configure within FSX and the card setup so that anti-aliasing is done by the app rather than with the card. I have no complaints whatsoever, it is a fantastic sim, running smooth at high (not quite max admittedly) settings...

I tried FSX, after playing it, uninstalled it, graphics were awfull, and i was lagging like hell, and i know for a fact my computer can play other games were the graphics were ALOT better than that and not lag, proberbly runs crap on older hardware, funny really, its made by Microsoft too ahaha.
