i was having troubles formating my hard drive. i was trying every program i could think of partiton magic, dos, mmc, and just right clicking/format. i was trying to format my HD file type as NTFS but everytime it it got "done" (99%-100%) it said could not complete the format. i tried several times on each program nothing worked. for some reason i dont know i changed file type to FAT32 and the format completed. a working fat32 drive. does anybody know if an older hd cannot be fomated in ntfs?
NTFS has a Master File Table (MFT) that can take up a bit of space. My guess is that the drive is too small to accomodate the MFT, or can, but not much else.
Pretty sure? Converting thorugh NTFS shouldnt be a problem. My way of doing it is wiping it, then installing windows (ntfs FULL not quick), then formatting it again through windows with a slave drive with windows on it, then your set.
thanks thanks guys i will have to try some of these. i just havent had time to sit and do a format/reinstall. i will let u know howit goes
