How to install Windows XP Pro to SATA Hard Drive?

I am trying to load Win XP Pro to my sata drive. I have an EVGA 650i Ultra board with a Raid Controller. When Windows setup asks if I need to load a raid driver, I press F6, but nothing happens. I did not want to use an IDE drive, but I will use one if I have to.

This computer is a new build with Intel dual core 2 e6600.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

well, if you want to use RAID, then HDD`s should be identical. are they?


i don`t know do you really need RAID at all... in case you don`t, turn off in bios RAID for devices and try installing WinXP. Or try using other instalation CD.

I hope you know what RAID is. You need atleast two or more HDD's to setup RAID. If you have only one SATA HDD then go through [link=http://www.hardwareforums.com/istalling-win-xp-laptop-18459/]this[/link] and hopefully you will be alright after that...Goodluck
 
problem: XP will not recognize SATA drives cos it doesnt have the necessary driver on the CD

the solution: slipstream your XP CD to include your SATA drivers

BTW: slipstreaming is usually done on another system[ot]although when i used XP i did on my system[/ot]
 
Hi,

As I understand in the MaximumPC article, we'll need the specific SATA drivers for each MB we want to work with.
Is there any method of having a general XP installation with as much SATA drivers as we can?...at least the more common drivers?
