Internet connection gone

my mates computer is on xp and he has a wireless netgear system. NETGEAR MA111. and we get a strong signal and a connection to the router but we cant connect to the web, i can ping any website on command promt but when i try to do ipconfig/renew, i get this message,
"No operation can be performed on local Area Connection while it has its media disconnected.
An error occurred while renewing interface wireless Network Connection 4: unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out.

please help. thanks
 
Hi m8 try turning DHCP on on the wireless router settings. If this fails it sounds like a network key error try it with all the routers security off and see if it works if it does build the security up after. Hope this helps Dave :cool:
 
Thanks mate i will try that this evening when i go round for the third time. I went round yesterday and i tried his wireless adapter in my laptop and i got the internet through his router and it was working fine but when i tried it on his computer it wouldn't work, thanks a lot.
