Hi all

We've got a new user group for hardware forums over at last.fm which you can view here

A bit about last.fm:

Last.fm is a service that records what you listen to, and then presents you with an array of interesting things based upon your tastes — artists you might like, users with similar taste, personalised radio streams, charts, and much more.

Hardware Forums Group Page - Last.fm

Whoo! 4 members so far

The idea of the HWF LastFM group is that we can see what the most listened to music is and share tastes etc.

Linux users can use AmaroK (KDE) or Banshee (GNOME) with LastFM, which is easier then downloading LastFM's software

trust me, i can't do anything right, LOL

downloaded LastFM_Linux_1.0.0b.tar.bz2
extracted
ran ./lastfm
Code:
: No protocol specified

bin_LastFM: cannot connect to X server :0.0
root@dave-desktop:/home/dave/Desktop/LastFM_Linux_1.0.0b/Last.fm_Client_1.0.0b#

what now ?

Log out of root (you cant run graphical programs as root) and instead use sudo.

BTW, why don't you just use AmaroK for Last.fm? In the settings you can set up last.fm support

Hey just thought I'd pimp this thread as we need 7 more members before we get an official Hardware Forum's music chart! :D

Our group is here

Anti-Trend is the new group leader because I am too lazy to run it properly!

I use Amarok for Last.FM but not regularly as the skip option does not work.....
Apparently a known bug...fixed in 2.0.

I prefer to to be able to skip here and there.....

Now listening to AT's library..... :D

The Last.fm player is great for discovering new acts. I generally type in a tag and let it play away. Anything I like I buy
