LCD Display and DVI refresh rate

OK, so i am running a Samsung 173T monitor on an ATI 9600XT graphics card via DVI connection.

Now my question is regarding the refresh rate(s) the monitor can accept. In analog this monitor has protection against too high refresh rates (it displays a message - "out of range")... Figuring it would do the same in digital mode i set it briefly to 90 Hz, to see what it would do. It didnt give me an error and surprisingly the picture looked normal. In addition when i went to the monitor menu it said it was running at 75Hz... It seems the controller sets the maximumg at 75Hz.

put it back to 60Hz pretty fast, since i read after that that's what it should be set at.

Anyways, what i'm wondering is could i damage / have damaged my monitor by setting the DVI refresh rate too high? Thanks a lot to any feedback.

Welcome Emu!

Nice TFT, I'm seen some pics of it :) You are fine, I don’t think its damaged your TFT, often the TFT wont allow you to set it more than the max refresh rate it allows, which in this case 75 Hz, Also you have read correctly, you should keep it at 60 Hz! I believe it’s the recommended setting for the monitor! And I doubt you would notice the difference as it works differently from CRT monitors from what I have read!
