LCD Question

Hi,

Can someone help me out? I have a lp154w4 screen which has smashed, I tried swapping for a lp154w01. Now the display is very odd! I assume that as they are different model numbers they are not compatible? What exactly are the differences?
 
Can't tell you the difference but you'd be correct to assume you need to use the exact same model to get it working again.
 
well it does work but the screen is not correct, can't determine if it is the cable or LCD
 
I think my point was; theres probably some differences between the models, otherwise why have different models? Your better placed than me to test it out. Plus I'm making some basic assumptions e.g. difference between panels
