lcd too bright

  1. Hi, I just got an lcd monitor (NEC 1760NX) and I'm having brightness problems. If I'm on any website with white backgrounds, the white is extremely bright. Other colors are fine but looking at white hurts my eyes.

I've tried changing the brightness and contrast on the monitor itself and I can't really fix it. I've also changed gamma, brightness and contrast settings through my video card (Radeon 9500 Pro) color settings and when I finally got white to look ok, every other color was too dark or the colors were way off.

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

    Thanks

The best thing I can tell you is that you'll need to play with the gamma, brightness and contrast until you can find an acceptable setting. I haven't played with LCD mointors, but there should be some way to adjust the settings you want, either through buttons or an OSD (on-screen display).

Sounds like your contrast is too high and your brightness is too high.

Try giving it a high brightness and low contrast.
