Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard"

Apple has announced Mac OS X 10.6, a new version of the Apple Operating System. This version only has some under the hood enhancements, and is therefore much cheaper for current 10.5 users. It can now be pre-ordered in the Online Apple Store, and will be delivered on August 28. It can also be purchased in Apple Stores and resellers from that date. I've listed the prices for each version, as it could be confusing:

Snow Leopard only runs on Macs with an Intel CPU. The PowerPC CPUs are not supported anymore by this version.

You purchased a Mac on June 8 2009 or later
Upgrade to Snow Leopard: $9.95

You have 10.5 "Leopard" installed:
Single User (1 Computer): $29
Family Pack (Up to 5 Computers): $49

You have 10.4 "Tiger" installed:
Mac Box Set, including iWork '09 and iLife '09 is the only option.
Single User (1 Computer): $169
Family Pack (Up to 5 Computers): $229

Mac OS X 10.6 Server will cost $499 for unlimited clients.

Got it running for a day now, and I'm really impressed by its performance. Everything loads much quicker. The applications of iWork '09 and Office 2008 load in about 5 seconds on my Mac Pro. And shutting down takes about 3-5 seconds :D
 
Sadly I'm a little underwhelmed, I can't say I expected massive gains but I can't really detect any performance bump. Granted my 'puter is getting pretty old and crusty though so if it gets me another year and a half I'll be pleased.
