I want to upgrade the memory on my computer but I'm not sure what kinda of memory it takes, all I know is it's DDR2. I'm using Ubuntu 11.04. Does anybody know what the max memory is and what type (ie. PC2-5300) Or how I can find out. The computer itself is the Packard Bell iMedia D2317 UK.
You can purchase any of these http://www.crucial.com/uk/upgrade/compatible-memory-for/Packard+Bell/iMedia+D2317+UK/list.html According to the above link, the max speed is DDR2 PC2-8500.
It's just, on this website, it said different, that's why I was confused >> http://www.e4allupgraders.info/dir1/motherboards/socket775/ecsMCP73VT-PM.shtml
The higher speed ram will run at the maximum speed your motherboard allows, I suspect thats the reason the crucial site has somewhat higher speed memory listed as options. But remember if you have ram with different speeds, it will run at the lower speed.
